Does food obsession rule your life?

If you get a shame attack every time you eat something that’s not on your list of “good foods,” you’re in the right place.

Diet culture teaches us that we must be perfectly rigid with our food choices to stay healthy, but that’s not true at all. There’s another way to get and stay healthy, and it doesn’t feel like sh&% while you do it.

Enter Intuitive Eating.

Intuitive Eating is a process that helps us:

  • reclaim our power with food, releasing the charge and panic

  • develop non-food-based coping mechanisms for stress

  • ditch mean girl diet culture stories in favor of a loving, accepting relationship with food and our bodies

Over the course of 12 weeks, you’ll learn how to release rigid, shaming, generic health rules so we can embrace a personalized, individual approach to food that is research-backed to promote health and wellbeing. In other words, free up the space in your head where food obsession lives and fill it with things that make you happy and healthy!

NEW THIS ROUND:

I’m incorporating Somatics to help people embody the principles and build emotional resilience to replace food-based coping mechanisms. The result? Not just the knowledge of what to do, but a lived sense of BEING an Intuitive Eater.

Wanna know more about Amy?

Hey-eyyyyy! I’m Amy Clover, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, somatics practitioner and HAES™-aligned anti-diet culture health coach. I’ve done the work to get to where I am now because of my history with disordered eating and mental health disorders for most of my life.

I used to be a pro dieter. Like, literally. I dieted for photo shoots and fitness videos, getting down to super low body fat percentages, then binging nonstop for weeks after the shoot. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t control myself. I felt like I just couldn’t stop. And for years, I thought it was just because I was weak-willed.

It wasn’t until I got into serious eating disorder recovery and started learning about Intuitive Eating (IE) that I realized the truth: the promise diets offer is a lie. Over 95% of diets fail (even the “lifestyle change” ones; here’s a list of studies) because they deny the body’s needs. Failing at diets isn’t weakness; it’s your body keeping you alive!

Through pairing IE with somatics like I do in this program, I released shame around my food choices, freed up space in my mind to think of things other than food and my body, and discovered freedom with food that I’d never experienced before. I completely changed my business to help people who still didn’t know that they were being oppressed by diet culture. Now my mission is to help you get your freedom back, too, and that’s where this program comes in.

Our 12-Week Curriculum

We’re following the Principles in order, plain & simple (though I’ll tailor the work to each individual; Intuitive Eating flows and doesn’t have to be done in order!). You’ll find a couple of Integration Weeks in here, too, in which you’ll get some time to process everything you learn and practice what you’ve been learning without any new information (‘cause burn out sucks).

FAQs

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers!

  • First off, I’m a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor which makes me uber-knowledgable about all things Intuitive Eating (I was trained by Evelyn Tribole, one of the creators of IE). Secondly, my somatics training lends me a different approach than most. It helps me guide clients into not just a knowing of what they’re supposed to do, but a BEING of it. When we embody what we learn as we learn it, it sticks a lot longer and goes a lot deeper. This group combines a top-down approach (logic, mind) with a bottom-up approach (body, feeling).

  • Expect to dedicate 2-3 hours per week to the work, calls and chat group.

  • It depends on the group! The group will vote on the best times and days for them through polls posted in the chat group. Also, calls will be recorded in case you miss any!

  • More freedom with food, heightened awareness of needs and obstacles/disruptors to meeting them, a more relaxed approach to eating, a deeper understanding of any emotional eating patterns, and a healthy sense of rebellion against the systems that want to oppress you through diet culture. Soooo tons? You’ll get out of it what you put into it. Also, hopefully buddies from this intimate group!

  • There will be a Zoom call every week (12 total) in which the whole group will meet with me live. On those calls, I’ll make sure you get talk time with me where the others just listen (if you want). I’ll also be checking the chat group every weekday to get back to any questions you have and support you through challenges.

  • Yes AND you may need to let them know that you’ll have to put nutrition work on hold while you’re in this program. IE is all about making changes that get you in tune with your body so trying to stick to someone else’s plan for you doesn’t usually jive with that. That said, people with other coaches have done this program and thrived because their coaches were open to following their client’s lead.

  • I highly recommend putting all fitness programs or challenges, diet regimens and/or cleanses on hold unless they’re for specific medical issues. These are active barriers to body attunement during this program which is an essential component of becoming an Intuitive Eater.

  • I get it. I totally do. This is an investment and I don’t price it this way lightly. I put a LOT of time and effort into this group and working with each member as an individual within it. For 1/3 the price of my one-on-one coaching, you’re getting 2 extra coaching calls per month and a squad who’s in the trenches with you. I can’t tell you that it will be worth it for you because you’ll get out of it what you put into it, but I can ask: How much is it worth to be free of food obsession? What would you give to be able to look at your forbidden foods and naturally feel no charge around them? That’s what I’m going to help you find and I hope you’ll trust me when I say I devote serious time and energy to your support and guidance.

  • I feel you, friend. I’m in recovery, too. If you’re early on in your ED recovery, I highly suggest getting in touch with a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. If you’re already working with a therapist and are comfortable with me (Amy) coordinating treatment with them, I would be happy to welcome you into our group. Please keep in mind that this material can be triggering especially for those new to recovery.

  • Yes and no? One of the first steps in this process is leaving behind the goal of intentional weight loss and diets…which can be scary AF. It’s important that you know that this program is not geared toward weight loss. We focus on healing your relationship with food, dismantling diet culture’s programming and releasing beliefs that keep you from honoring your body’s needs. One of those beliefs is that a different body shape offers more self-worth. If you’re willing to come in with an open mind and the ability to consider that weight loss may not be the absolute goal to feel the way you want to feel, I invite you in. We’re all about flexibility over rigidity in this group and I’m happy to help guide you in releasing the goal of weight loss.

  • I totally hear you. I was terrified of it, too, at the beginning of my journey with IE. Weight gain is always a possibility whether you do this program, a diet or just keep doing whatever you’re doing. The reason you’re scared you’ll gain weight likely has to do with what you think it will mean about you to be in a different-sized body. We’ll work through that in this program, and I’ll be there to support you no matter what shape your body takes.
