The club that helps you stop should-ing all over yourself…
If you’ve ever gotten burnt out on movement, it’s probably because you’ve subscribed to the all-or-nothing mindset:
“Exercise 5 days a week or it doesn’t count! Go hard or go home! Just do iiit!!!”
Woof. It’s exhausting trying to live up to the perfectionistic expectations of the world when it comes to movement…and it’s not supportive of a lifelong relationship with exercise.
Setting unrealistic demands on your body, then shaming yourself when you’re tired or over it is a recipe for failure. There’s no way you’ll ever live up to your own expectations of the “perfect” amount or kind of movement.
Enter: The Imperfect Movement Club.
The Imperfect Movement Club is where you’ll learn how to stop shaming yourself to pieces and develop a loving, long-term relationship with movement.
Why “Imperfect” Movement Club?
Because the perfection we’ve been seeking is what’s destroying our relationships with our bodies and movement. It’s either not attainable or unsustainable, leading us to always feel like we’re not doing enough. For some of us, that can feel like we’re not enough.
We believe that since we can’t live up to the astronomical expectations of ourselves or others, that we must not be strong or disciplined enough.
What we don’t realize is that the expectation of perfection is the problem, not us.
When we make room for imperfection (aka humanity), we allow space for self-compassion, flexibility within timing and movement type, and a release of that white knuckle grip on doing it “right.” All of which is key to a long-lasting relationship with movement that’s based in self-love and care.
What is Somatics?
Soma–in short–means “the living body,” and somatics is the work of contacting and working from a connected place to the body.
The Imperfect Movement Club is a somatics-based group coaching program that will help you get in touch with what’s holding you back from a loving relationship with movement, and guide you into a more supportive, embodied state of being where your body (not perceived pressures) calls the shots.
When we move from a connected place with our bodies, we don’t burn out because our bodies will tell us when to stop. We do what feels right and in amounts that feel right which leads to a long term, loving relationship with movement; one full of trust for ourselves and our bodies, and ripe with ease and flexibility within consistency.
In a small group environment, I (Amy) will take you through the process of getting in touch with your body’s cues and building a resilient relationship with movement from that connection. Here’s what that looks like…
How the group works
The Imperfect Movement Club is a 6-week virtual group coaching program guided by Amy Clover, NASM CPT/CES and somatics practitioner.
Guiding values of our program
ALL bodies are welcome here
All sizes, races, sexual orientations and gender identities are celebrated and welcomed here. If you’re not into diversity and inclusivity, please don’t join. This is a space of radical acceptance and inclusion.
Any way you can move is enough
Amy creates these movement videos with inclusion in mind and is always happy to offer specific assistance for moves that aren’t accessible for your body. There is no wrong way to move in this space (and I hope by the end of this program, you believe that, too).
Imperfect is the goal
The goal of this program is to create a relationship with movement that meets you where you are. That means you’ll learn how to embrace and allow imperfection. Because you’re not meant to be who they say you should be; it’s up to YOU to discover who you are and how you want to move.
Feelings are allowed (and encouraged)
Welcome to the vulnerable space, Love. Expect to be around big feelings and IN big feelings while going through this program. No emotion is wrong in this space.
Amy is (unfortunately) not all-powerful
I can do a lot, but I can’t do it all. I’m a NASM CPT/CES as well as a Somatic Stress Release™ Practitioner. I am not a mental health professional. I also will not have the space to attend individually to one person over others within the scope of this program. If you have a history of trauma or mental health disorders that may be activated by this program, please consult your therapist before joining.
Also, I will present you with information and techniques that have changed my life as well as some of my clients’. It can do wonders if you’re open and willing to do the work of meeting uncomfortable feelings and beliefs. If you don’t have the capacity to go there right now, I recommend waiting until you’ve got space and willingness for it. No shade; just meeting you where you are. :)
How much is it?

Who’s Amy?
That’s me! I’m the creator of this here club and your guide as you go through it.
I’ve been in the fitness industry since 2008 when I became a personal trainer, but I had a lot of trouble with ping-ponging between ALL the motivation and none at all. After years of work and Somatics galore, I’ve de-shamed my relationship with movement and learned how to move through limiting beliefs and tough emotions by partnering with my body. That’s what I hope to teach you here, too.
If you’re curious what qualifies me to run this course, here are some credentials:
Somatic Stress Release™ practitioner
Certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy*
Certificate in Integrative Somatic Parts Work
NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist
Original Cyberobics elite trainer
Creator of the 30x30 Project to benefit TWLOHA
Besides Somatics, I’m a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and anti-diet culture health + movement coach. I believe strongly in body liberation, feminism and social justice, and apply these beliefs in my work as much as possible. As a mixed race woman (Chinese and Western European), inclusivity is of the utmost importance to me. I never really felt like I belonged in many places so now I seek to create a space in my practice where ALL races, gender identities, bodies and sexual orientations belong.
*I am not a mental health professional. Where therapists go after the trauma directly, this training taught me how to address the current effects you experience from trauma. I help you with the current feels and patterns; therapists help you process the event.
FAQs

The next round isn’t scheduled yet. Sign up for the waitlist to get notified when we have a date!
-
The call schedule is voted on by the group starting the week before the start date of the program and will land toward the end of each week. All calls will be recorded in case you miss any!
-
For sure you can! It’ll probably serve you best if you let them know that connection with your body will be priority from here on out, though. This program is all about moving from a place of agency and partnership with your body; if you’re currently doing workouts that don’t feel right for you, it could be confusing to do this program at the same time.
-
There will be a Zoom call every week (6 total) in which the whole group can meet with me live. You can volunteer to ask your questions on those calls or post them in the group for both peer and Amy support. Amy will check into the group chat at least once every weekday.

I feel you, friend. I’m in recovery, too. If you’re early on in your ED recovery, I highly suggest getting in touch with a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. If you’re already working with a therapist, send them the link to this page so they can give you their thoughts on whether now’s the right time for you to explore this kind of connected movement. I encourage you to honor whatever they recommend.
-
Absolutely not. This is a program focused on helping you heal your relationship with movement (overtraining or lack of motivation) through movement and partnership with your body.
-
No. This is a movement program that focuses on your connection to your body, not on achieving physical changes. As with all my offerings, I created IMC in alignment with the HAES philosophy which you can read more about here: https://asdah.org/health-at-every-size-haes-approach/
Here’s to partnering with your body
I’m so excited to help you de-shame your relationship with movement. If you have any other questions, contact me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
