I'm So Excited And I Just Won't Hide It
When was the last time you felt excited? No REALLY, GENUINELY excited.Like kid-at-5-am-in-the-hotel-room-before-his-first-trip-to-Disney excited.TODAY, I want you to face the reasons that you're missing out on such a great emotion!
Dictionary.com defines "excite" as:
"to arouse or stir up the emotions or feelings of;"
"to cause; awaken;"
"to stir to action; provoke or stir up;"
"to stimulate."
Dem's some strong actions right there."To cause; awaken," and "To stir to action," are the definitions that resonate with me most.
To think that an activity, person, or topic could awaken you, could stir you into action- that is powerful.
Imagine how empowering it would feel to find that energy source and harness it into overcoming your obstacles. Why, you might find yourself dang near unstoppable. When I allowed myself to be uninhibited in my excitement and to harness the energy from my passion for helping others achieve their goals, success seemed to seek ME out. I no longer had to go looking for it.Every move I made was inspired by this excitement.Other people that had this same life force attracted me, and I attracted them. I have met some of the most alive and inspiring people I have ever met over the last few years. My business flourished and my clients started getting better results more rapidly (though I can't take all the credit for that one), and my blog launched with support from some of my favorite bloggers!Other people can sense your excitement, and it's contagious. They WANT to feel it too!
So what gets YOU excited?
I know you have some things that you are passionate about.Do you LOVE dancing? Are you a wiz with photoshop? Do you find yourself grinning like the Cheshire Cat when you're watching your kids play? What issues do you talk animatedly about?Take these clues and start making space for more of these in your weekly schedule! How often can you make time for those activities? How can you spend more time with those people that get you fired up and ready to take action? What steps can you take to involve yourself in the issue you're so passionate about?Jot down some notes and brainstorm ways to get more excitement in your life.
Excitement breeds more excitement.
If you don't know what gets you excited, try hanging around other people that have it down already. Listen to the way they talk- the way their eyes come alive. Pay attention to the actions they take. Get inspired! You are a human being, so I KNOW you are passionate about something. If you don't feel it yet, you just have to do some more digging. It's in there.
Get rid of your inhibitions and let yourself be excited!
Society has tends to shed a condescending eye on excited adults, as if it were a feeling you should have grown out of.I will single-handedly fight this stigma if I have to!It's almost like society WANTS us to be depressed.*insert rather loud clearing of the throat here*Everyone should feel free to let their excitement show!Don't be a slave to the negativity that is so prevalent in the world today. Be a source of inspiration and excitement for others.Show them that it's ok to be who you are, excitement and all. You're not any less intelligent. You haven't lost your cool factor.
Don't be afraid to shine.
Your fire could light someone else's.
Let this excitement lead you to a thriving life
Listen to your gut. Does the choice you're making excite you?Excitement comes in many forms: joy, fear, anxiety. All of them should have a positive backdrop- if you feel negative, stressed out, or uninspired, consider your other options.
The most instrumental steps I have taken thus far have all scared the s**t out of me.
That's when I know I've got something good. ;)Excitement should inform every important decision you make. If it's not there, drop it or revisit other possibilities.
Imagine a world in which everyone felt alive, inspired, and motivated.
It is possible. It can start with you right now.I CHALLENGE YOU TO DO AT LEAST ONE THING THAT GETS YOU EXCITED THIS WEEK, AND TO LET THAT EXCITEMENT SHOW!Feel what it's like and how it motivates you to action. This is the seed of great things!Don't let the fear of looking silly keep you from experiencing a thriving life. The life you're living is your own. Don't apologize for it.
