The Workout Program You'll Never Quit

The Workout Program You'll Never QuitMy workout program is always changing. One day I'll be yogi-ing it up. The next, I'll be doing pull ups and burpees. The next, I'll be boxing.Part of what keeps me so enthralled with movement is the commitment I have to exploring new ways to do it. I change it up on purpose both to keep me excited about moving, and to keep my body and brain on their toes! The workout program you'll never quit is the one that never stops delighting you. It's the one you look forward to, not dread. It's the one that fills you with joy while you're in it, not just long after you're done. Here's the catch: this changes for every single one of us. What thrills us now might bore us next week! Because of this, we must stay endlessly curious about new forms of movement. To stay curious is tougher than one might think. It's scary to try new workouts and classes without ever having done them before!

What if we look stupid?! *Gulp!*

What if we don't like it?! *Gasp!*

What if we FAIL?!!! *Blood-curdling scream!*

Calm yourself, Strongie. These are all natural and normal fears to have when you're trying out new things, be it movement or anything else. Here are some tips to help you ease into the new and find the workout program you'll never quit (because you'll never get a chance to).

Allow Yourself to Explore

When you find yourself interested in workouts or equipment that's foreign to you, let yourself explore it. Whether it's in a magazine, a video or even at the gym.Check out that girl doing the workout with the weird rubber tube thing in the corner? She looks like she's having a blast! Talk her up- ask her what she's doing and what that thing is called (it's a ViPR btw). If she's working out with a trainer, ask him!Think about it this way: that girl who's using that equipment right now was once in your very shoes. She probably wants a chance to talk about the workout she's worked so hard to start doing!Just wait until her rest break to approach them, otherwise you risk a ViPR in the jaw...

Keep An Open Mind

Think something will make you look ridiculous? Try it in a class format. That way, everyone looks ridiculous together! There's a quote by Amy Poehler that goes, "There's a power in looking silly and not caring that you do."When you allow yourself to embrace ridiculousness and release any hangups with what other people think, you give yourself a power unlike any other in the gym. The people doing crazy cool stuff that you wish you could do? They have that power. They probably embraced it long ago when they took the first step to making that super-high box jump, or became a Zumba teacher, or started holding those nonsensical arm balances in yoga.Give yourself the freedom to look silly. There will always be someone who wants to tear you down because it's not "normal."Are you living by his rules or yours?

Already Love What You Do? Keep It!

If you've already found a form of movement that excites you most every time you walk into that studio door, turn on that video, or take the first step of that run, hold onto it. You've found something that motivates you to move, and I'm not gonna be the one to stop you!I do recommend that you mix it up every so often, though. To keep your body performing at its best, add in some form of strength training or cardio training if you typically lean towards one or the other. OR add in both with HIIT workouts!Who knows? You could find something you love even more...

Stay Connected to Your Body

The point of this workout regimen is to constantly explore by staying insatiably curious about movement. There are so many ways to move and we honor our bodies and lives by allowing ourselves to try the most ways possible.Every time you try something new that you enjoy, you teach your brain that there is nothing to fear. To release fear's hold on you, all you have to do is get in a lot of practice facing it!Face your fear of newness, and embrace a movement program you'll never want to quit! When you shift your focus to seeking newness and out of forcing yourself to keep pushing through workouts you hate, you'll finally be able to find the workout program that makes working out a treat, not a chore.

A Sneak Peak Into How We're Going To Help You Do It

We're about to release our brand new crowdfunded membership program to keep you engaged, active, motivated and excited about moving! We whole-heartedly believe that changing up your program helps you do every one of those things. That's why your workout program and mindset challenge will change every single month. Not only that, but it's the very first program of it's kind to work you out from the inside out, rather than the other way around. We take your emotional state and fitness level as it is right now, and work from there to inject more motivation, mindfulness, fun and positivity into your life. This won't be a weight loss program (though it may result in that). This will be a mind-body movement regimen that gives you the motivation, guidance and support you need to get and keep moving toward a healthy, happy life.
