What The Health Industry Doesn't Want You to Know About Summer

Ah, Summer. The sunshine, the warmth, the promise of barbecues and pool parties...

Summer's an awesome season, but it's time we shed light on how the health & fitness industry treats Summer...and you. I bet you know what I'm talking about, even if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Tell me if any of these kinds of ads have hit your social media feeds all Spring and then abruptly ended about a month ago:

  • Get healthy for Summer! Lose weight now!

  • Get your beach body before you step foot on the sand!

  • Summertime detox for 6-pack abs!

  • Bikini body workout plan: wow your friends!

Ugh. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Spring time is the time when the health and fitness industry goes after anyone who feels slightly negative about themselves. They prey on "not enough-ness" and get people to buy their fixes in order to feel enough in front of others, and they do it by disguising their performance health trash with the word, "health."

But Summer? Summer time is free from all that, and you know why?

The health and fitness industry deems Summer "too late." If you didn't take part in their extremist plans, you're a lost cause. There's no way you're getting "healthy" now.

I think this is grade A BULLSHIT and it makes me furious.

First of all, what they're peddling ain't health. Second of all, your healthy efforts aren't limited to when your body will be seen by others. Third of all, fuck those guys.

Health isn't one body type. It's not measured by flat stomachs or how long you've gone drinking juice instead of eating food. True Health is attunement with yourself and what is best for you, and that looks different on everyone.

I'm so fired up about this that I decided I'm going to share the most important piece of work of SIO's lifetime with you next week, right in the "dead zone" of health season.

Because I refuse to believe you're a lost cause just because you didn't buy into their bullshit or it didn't work or it did, but now you're stuck with obsession and fear running your every waking moment.

Next week, I'm putting my life's work on the table. You remember me talking about how hard I was working on something back in the new year? This is that piece. It's been my whole journey in the making, and 6 months of hands-on researching, writing and editing.

I can't wait to share it with you, Love. It's everything you've been asking me for.Until next week, Health Hero, keep reminding yourself that no one else gets to decide what health looks like on you.Love,Amy
