Make This Your Moment: My First Book
The other morning, I received an email from a new client.
…canceling her newly-scheduled program.
When I read the email, my heart sank. She really wanted help; she lacked the knowledge, technique and motivation to change.
But she was scared.
The first thing I thought?
I can’t wait to send her a copy of my finished book.
The truth about the matter is this: most people I meet fear change. It’s overwhelming. It’s the unknown. It’s not guaranteed. You might look stupid if you fail. People might laugh because you tried so hard and got nowhere.
But what if you never try at all?
When exactly are you planning to start taking responsibility for your life?
If you’re like many people I’ve come across (including myself a few years ago), you’re waiting for a sign. You’re waiting for something to push you over the edge. You’re waiting for someone else to do it for you.
I have a cold hard dose of reality for you:
You are going to WASTE your entire life in the waiting room.
Go on this journey with me…
Close your eyes for a second.
Take a breath.
Let me take you somewhere.
This is why I wrote my book.
I want you to wake up to your life.
To the realization that our time here is limited.
Every day you live in fear is a day wasted, stolen from you by forces that don’t even exist. By the “maybe.”
Are you willing to give up your dreams, your passion, for some fear that might happen? What if it never did, but you wouldn’t know because you never tried at all in the first place?
The premise of my book isn’t centered on goals, or techniques for achieving them.
The point of this book is to push you to–once and for all–make the choice to change your life.
I spent months researching, interviewing, and writing and re-writing every chapter of this guide to be the most helpful, and provide the most lasting results possible for you.
It doesn’t matter in which way you want to change your life.
Want to lose weight? That’s covered. Want to get out of your job? Yep, that’s in there too. Want to get out of your stale relationship? I know it’s scary, but I take you through that scenario, too.
This guide addresses every major change you could want to make, with step-by-step exercises to hold your hand every step of the way.
Make This Your Moment: A Step-by-Step Guide to Changing Your Life… for Good is my first ever book written entirely from scratch.
To make it as helpful and effective as possible, I developed it more as a workbook. Like my blog posts here, it will guide you through change with actionable steps, rather than just telling you it can be done. In addition to detailed chapters, research, and motivational insight, printable worksheets are included within.
Here is the table of contents to give you an idea of what to expect:
•This–right now–can be the moment you decide to change your life
•The Rock-Bottom Effect And Why It’s Not Necessary
•You Have A Lot To Lose: The Danger of “Comfort”
•Letting Go of Your Past, Embracing Your Future
•You Really Are Worth It: Re-Framing Your Self-Worth
•Goal-Setting 101: Finding Your Real Motivation
•Facing The Unknown: Is The Worst Really That Bad?
•“Fight” for Your Life… And Win
•One Step at A Time: Avoiding Burn-Out And Overwhelm
•The Moment
•Do It.
This guide can be your tipping point.
Let this be the moment you decide to change, before your struck with the situation that forces you to change.
The Rock Bottom Effect
After analyzing many different cases of change, I realized that often, major life changes come from those who hit rock bottom (or at least got close to it).
My goal is to help you avoid that outcome. I want to help you change your life before you get to that point.
There’s no reason to wait to be forced into change when you can take the same techniques to change your life before then.
So I studied the “rock bottom effect.” I looked at what happened to me and to others when we hit our lowest points, and what went on inside us to produce the motivation to change, and why we have maintained it.
After careful information-gathering and research, I produced seven factors that force people into change, and formulated them into techniques that you can apply to your own life. Right now.
Stop Waiting. Make This Your Moment.
Because you deserve to live a phenomenal life.
Because you can’t just keep stuffing down that burning feeling inside of you that there’s more out there.
Because ever day you see someone else achieve what you want, is another day you could be that inspiration to someone else.
Inspiring Hope, One Book at A Time
Not only are you inspiring change in yourself through this workbook, you are also inspiring hope in those who need it most.
I will be donating 5% of what I make from each copy of Make This Your Moment to the charity, To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA).
TWLOHA is a non-profit devoted to helping and presenting hope for people who struggle with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. If you watched the video from last week’s post, you’ll know how effective their message is.
For the next two weeks, subscribers to the Strong Inside Out email list will be getting a $10 discount, making the workbook $17. If you’re a subscriber, you should have received a discount code in your email that you can enter at checkout in order to get the discount.
I never would have gotten to this point if it wasn’t for all my amazingly supportive readers, so this is a little bit of a thank you. You can still get this discount if you sign up today: you’ll be sent a personal discount code to use when buying the guide.
These discount codes will only be good until June 17 at midnight, PST.
On June 18, the price for everyone will go up to the normal selling price of $27.
A few fellow blogger friends thought I was under-pricing myself releasing this guide for so little. I think, the cheaper it is, the more people it can help.
This is not about making money. This is about getting rid of your excuses or even better, pushing you to realize that your excuses are fabricated by the fear inside you.
Overcome fear with me. Find your happiness!

Inspired By Series
Over the next 2 weeks, to celebrate the launch of the ebook, I will be publishing stories from some extremely inspiring people, rightfully deemed the “Inspired By” series.
These people took the initiative to change their lives without anything pushing them into it.
They chose to change themselves simply by willing themselves to. Their stories echo the sentiment of my workbook: You CAN change your life.
Here’s a peak at the stories to come:
Inspired by Benny Hsu
Benny pulled a 180 on his life and career, even when it was paying the bills. When driving home one night, he started feeling extremely angry at himself for staying in such a dead-end situation. When he realized that he was responsible for his own life, his world completely changed.
Inspired by Kay Aston
Kay realized she was worth more than the comfortable relationship she was in. Even though it wasn’t horrible, she decided to get out rather than settle for a life of almost-happy.
Inspired by Andrea Niven
Andrea was a bit overweight, but not obese. She was unhappy with the way she looked, lacked energy, and worried about the example she was making for her daughter. She decided to get healthy and has since lost 55 lbs, walked 2 5ks and a 10k, and has instilled upon her daughter a sense of fun when it comes to exercise… in a year and a half!
June just started. We’re already halfway through 2012.
What have you accomplished so far?
Make history before the year is through.
Because life is too short to be semi-miserable for the rest of it.
Make this your moment.

Heck yeah Amy! I am so proud of you for producing this gift to the world and allowing so many people to benefit from your knowledge and wisdom.
I know you will inspire so many others to make the change they need in their lives. You already do, every day.
Having read this book I devoured it in a little over an hour and felt positively energized and with some key actions to take away (even though I think I am a change agent!).
So no matter what stage you’re at this guide has wisdom and encouragement for you to make that change you’ve been putting off!
Best investment you’ll make

Congratulations on finishing your first book from scratch! That’s an awesome accomplishment (and I envy you). This comes at a very appropriate time in my life, and your book is something I definitely need. At the beginning of this year I declared my mantra to be “Make 2012 Epic”. And thankfully I’ve made some amazing progress so far. I’ve come a long way, but I know I still have great potential and a good way to go. Can’t wait to start reading your workbook and putting it into action.

Congratulations Amy, this is so exciting! I truly you can help people make the change and…
You are SO RIGHT about waiting for signs. Waiting for something else to push us do the things we know we have to (or want to) do.
Keep waking people up and guiding them to self-fulfillment!

Thanks, Maria! I hope this acts as a sign to some out there so they’ll stop waiting for life to happen TO them, and instead take action to create it themselves!
Excited for you to get this out! I know it’s going to be an amazing book full of inspiring stories. Can’t wait to read the other stories you’ve put in there!

Just picked the up the book Amy. Great read so far and awesome design! Is the worst really that bad is an interesting chapter that really challenges us to look at the positives/negative in our lives.
It’s funny that you mention that chapter because I JUST ran a client through that exercise (she’s facing a big career decision right now)!
I really hope you like it! Let me know what you think!
What an amazing and life-changing resource this is! Well done Amy. Wow…just wow. You’ve hit all the key points with this ebook. It’s especially refreshing to see things presented concisely and immediately followed up with action items to cement the reader’s thoughts on paper.
Bravo!

Thank you so much, guys! I may just use that in a testimonial. ;)
I was hoping that the workbook design would really help people well, work through it. I didn’t want a book that people would simply read and say, “That’s nice. I’ll do that one day.” I wanted to create a resource that would help people discover what was holding them back and empower them to overcome it.
I just finished the book and it was just what I needed. I now have to go back and do all the homework. Thank you for the inspiration and insight!
I am so happy to hear that, Nancy! Let me know how the homework goes!
